"Morning mist over the lavender"

This may be my favorite today.  I used a great deal of artistic license, but loved the result.  Soft silver frame, 20x30, oil on linen.
France made me very happy to be an early riser.

"Center stage at Ansouis"

Ansouis was certainly one of my favorite hill towns.  We toured a lovely castle that was used by a summer home for one of the French kings, can't recall which one.....

"Roses near the doorway"

Seems like everyone in France has flowers to grace their doors or windows.  This was done from a reference photo from an early morning walk.  12"x 9", oil on linen.

"Lavender in the garden"

I think my favorite painting so far, of all the Provence paintings.  This was next door to our lovely home in Bonnieux.   Lavender is used for decorative purposes, as well as to harvest.  The smell is wonderful and the beauty is hard to describe, even in paint.  One can only make the attempt.
18x24, oil on linen.  All the paintings will be shown at Craving Art in Beaufort in October.

"Les tournesols"

The literal translation of "tournesols" is "turning toward the sun."   The sunflowers were everywhere, the perfect compliment to the many lavender fields.   It is easy to see why Van Gogh was so inspired.

Lavender fields near Bonnieux

From a recent trip to Provence, a painting of the beautiful lavender that was everywhere in higher regions.  It was a breathtaking sight at any time of day and in any weather.

Love this one...."Carolina marsh".  I pass the scene often and have painted it many times.
Right outside of Beaufort, NC.

"Hollyhocks II"

These  flowers remind me so much of my childhood, when I sat on the porch and made little ballerinas from their blooms.   I have done several paintings of them, and decided I must have a garden of my own, so I started the ground this week.

Sunset Downeast

Just sold this painting, 16x20, to a lovely lady from Georgia.  She also purchased a painting of lilacs, all for her 20th anniversary.   Happy Anniversary, Jo and Alan.

Bird on a boat

This is an oil painting, 16x20.   I really love the subject matter, the little boat at low tide right off Bridges Street in Morehead City.   The little bird landing on the boat was perfect timing!

"The magic hour"

Thanks to my friends, Ron and Cyndi, I get to stay at this beautiful beach and paint every year.  This is the south end of Wrightsville Beach, always one of my favorite places, particularly at dawn and sunset.   18"x18", oil on canvas.

"The shell seeker"

Many of us fortunate enough to live near a beach will recognize ourselves in this one.
