I think my favorite painting so far, of all the Provence paintings. This was next door to our lovely home in Bonnieux. Lavender is used for decorative purposes, as well as to harvest. The smell is wonderful and the beauty is hard to describe, even in paint. One can only make the attempt. 18x24, oil on linen. All the paintings will be shown at Craving Art in Beaufort in October.
The literal translation of "tournesols" is "turning toward the sun." The sunflowers were everywhere, the perfect compliment to the many lavender fields. It is easy to see why Van Gogh was so inspired.

have been a working fine artist for about 22 years. Have a B.A. in English and an M.S. in Continuing Education but love painting more than anything. Did watercolor for 17 years until I took a non-credit course in the French Impressionists and that was it. I show in about 10 galleries, mostly coastal
